Acceptable Use & Data Policy

This policy applies to every API Codex API, and in particular to our web scraping and social media data APIs. It supplements our Terms of Service; using any API means you agree to both.

Our scraping APIs return information that is publicly accessible on the open web without logging in. They do not accept credentials, session cookies, or tokens, and must not be used to access content behind a login, paywall, or other access control.

• +No circumvention of authentication or access controls
• +No collection of non-public personal data

• +Market research, price and product monitoring
• +Brand, reputation, and social listening
• +Lead enrichment and B2B research from public business profiles
• +Academic research and journalism on public data
• +Feeding AI agents, LLM pipelines, and search indexes with public web content

You may not use API Codex to:

• +Harass, stalk, dox, or surveil individuals, or build profiles of private persons
• +Discriminate against individuals, including in employment, credit, housing, or insurance decisions
• +Send spam or unsolicited communications to people whose contact details appear in public data
• +Violate applicable data-protection, privacy, or other laws in your jurisdiction or your users’
• +Misrepresent scraped content as your own or infringe intellectual-property rights
• +Resell raw API output as a competing data product without adding your own service value

Public web pages can contain personal data. When you retrieve it through our APIs, you become an independent controller of that data: you are responsible for having a lawful basis to process it, honoring data-subject rights, and deleting it when no longer needed.

API Codex serves scrape results transiently and does not build or sell profiles of individuals. If you are an individual and want data about you excluded from our services, or you have received a data-subject request that involves data obtained through API Codex, contact [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

Plans include request-per-second limits and monthly credit quotas. Deliberately circumventing limits, sharing keys across organizations, or generating abusive traffic against target sites may lead to throttling, suspension, or termination under the Terms of Service.
